CD of a choir released

The Madras Youth Choir

Innovative harmoniser par excellence M.B. Srinivasan’s (MBS) Madras Youth Choir recently released a CD titled ‘Pallu Paduvome’ at a function held at TAG Centre, Alwarpet. Releasing the CD Justice K. Chandru stated that as a rare gesture, Srinivasan’s troupe had performed at his marriage.

Receiving the first copy, journalist Gnani readily offered his ‘Keni’, the backyard of his house for the choir to perform for a guaranteed audience and thus become more popular among the masses. Musician T.M. Krishna wanted the choir to set up independent outfits in places beyond Chennai, such as Madurai or Tiruchi and thus provide the necessary momentum for this genre of music to spread as a movement.

Augustine Paul, director, MMA Choir, said he was ready to collaborate with the Madras Youth Choir in its musical ventures. K. Subramaniam, founder-president in his welcome address underlined the fact that Srinivasan’s music was never uni-dimensional and thus embraced all kinds and facets of music. D. Ramachandran performed the function of master of ceremonies.

The event concluded with the tasteful and committed rendering of compositions of MBS in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Bengali by the Madras Youth Choir. The CD that was released was a live recording of a concert held in 2009 by Charsur Digital Workstation.
